Why Is My Printer Showing ‘Printer Status Unavailable’?

  • Enter devmgmt.msc in it, and click on the enter button.
  • This step will launch the device manager utility on your desktop.
  • Now, from the device manager window, look for the print queues tab and hit the enter button. A drop-down list will appear, select the printer you want to use from that list.
  • Uninstall the device by choosing the uninstall device option after right-clicking on the printer.
  • To confirm your choice and proceed with uninstalling, hit the uninstall button.
  • Once again, press the Windows and R keys together on your keyboard to launch the run search bar. Type ‘appwiz.cpl’ in the run search box and hit enter key.
  • This will launch a program and feature a window showing on your screen.
  • Now turn off your computer and detach the computer and printer. Wait patiently for a few moments.
  • Now, upgrade the printer drivers by pressing the windows and r key on the keypad.
  • Then type ‘devmgmt.msc’ in the run search box and the device manager will open up.
  • Now expand the print queues option when you see it. Now select the printer you are currently using from the drop-down menu list. On the update driver option right-click to select it.
  • To find the updated printer driver click on the option ‘Search automatically for updated driver software and it will update to the latest version of drivers automatically.
